This project proposes development of a public-facing marine tool (FATHOMS) that uses a large-language model (LLM) system to provide accurate responses to marine fuel queries. The proposed system leverages PNNL expertise from its decades of managing and developing Tethys, a curated document repository for marine energy. FATHOMS will aggregate, curate, and synthesize authoritative literature on marine biofuels using transparent, citation-backed natural language querying. The platform will be strictly descriptive and non-advocacy, serving as a trusted asset to help federal employees, research scientists, and other stakeholder groups quickly find authoritative information on marine fuels.
