Finnish Meteorological Institute

The mission of the Finnish Meteorological Institute is the government agency responsible for gathering and reporting weather data and forecasts in Finland. It is a part of the Ministry of Transport and Communications but it operates semi-autonomously. They aim to produce high-quality observation and research data on the atmosphere and seas. The Institute combines this expertise into the services it provides to promote public safety as well as increase well-being in the society and the environment, taking into account the needs to maintain preparedness.
